Fans of the HBO series, "True Detectives" are in for a treat with the addition of new cast members in the second season. With reports of the cast being completed, many speculate the show's production might begin soon.

The detective anthology by Nic Pizzolato starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as homicide detectives out to find a serial killer. In March 2014, Rolling Stone reported that McConaughey would not reprise his role in the series and so not be returning for the second season. It seemed that Pizzolato intended the anthology to have a different cast per season as it featured other detectives from different locales.

This left him with the task of signing new actors and actresses to join the production in season two. Deadline reported that Jon Lindstrom, who became famous for his role in General Hospital and recently in Castle, signed for a season of the series. International Business Times wrote that "Jessie's Girl" singer, Rick Springfield would also join the cast, raising many eyebrows. While his character in the series is still unknown, it seemed that the Australian rock star is very excited about his new stint. A post on his Twitter handle said, "Just finished my 1st day of shooting for season 2 of HBO's True Detective. What a great script. Working w/ Colin Farrell & Rachel McAdams!" The singer may be famous for his vocals but he has been acting since 1973. His previous stints include "General Hospital" and "Battlestar Galactica." Meanwhile, Enstarz.com announced that Ashley Hinshaw would also join the series. Her inclusion marked the third time producers got talents from another HBO series, True Blood.

Vince Vaughn would return as criminal Frank Semyon. Colin Farrell would play Detectve Ray Velcoro who works with Detective Ani Bezzerides portrayed by Rachel McAdams in the Ventury County Sheriff Office. Taylor Kitsch from the Friday Night Lights show would play Officer Paul Woodrugh. The upcoming season follows the story of a murdered California city manager and the details surrounding his death.
