It has always been the mantra of 'Star Trek' to boldly go where no one has gone before. New leaked photos from the set has got fans thinking that the Enterprise might be in big trouble and might have landed on a never before mapped planet in 'Star Trek Beyond.'

The next 'Star Trek' movie won't be hitting theaters for a few months yet, but thanks to gossip site TMZ, die-hard 'Star Trek' fans will now have something to chew on.

TMZ's sources have revealed that the cast and crew of the sci-fi series are currently shooting scenes at the Pitt River Quarries in Vancouver. The rumor is that the site's craggy outcrops have been specifically chosen to stand-in for the terrain of a heretofore undiscovered planet. A special effects stage is reportedly also on hand where the crew films the interior shots of the Enterprise.

There have been reports that the iconic ship will be enduring another round of damages. The quarry, and the surrounding rubble, might be used in a shot of the Enterprise crash landing on the planet.

A big yellow structure could also be seen in the leaked photos, along with some grainy shots of a big sound stage with some green screens.

The photos might be lacking in detail, but it's obvious that they're shooting something big. As it is, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg and the rest of the cast have kept mum about 'Star Trek Beyond.'

According to BBC America, Idris Elba was a bit more forthcoming with information. The 43-year-old English actor had recently teased fans about his "out of this world" costume and hinted that fans have never seen him play a character like the one in 'Star Trek.'

There have been rumors that he would be playing a villain and a Klingon. Pegg has already said the latter was "not true," but he didn't deny the villain part.

Elba won't say anything about the plot but he did say that he has scenes with everyone's favorite Vulcan, Spock.  The actor has also described his role as groundbreaking and his character as having a "very interesting, complex journey."

It seems that fans would be treated to another wild ride when 'Star Trek' returns so it's best to hang on. Or as Capt. Kirk would say to Bones - buckle up!

'Star Trek Beyond' is expected to beam back to theaters on July 22, 2016.
