The New York Mets will be hosting the MLB defending champions at Citi Field, where they will play the San Francisco Giants on June 9, 2015.

The game will begin at 7:10 PM ET.

Both the teams have been relatively impressive in this season so far, with the Mets leading the National League East with a 31-27 record.

Meanwhile, the Giants are second in the NL West with a 32-26 record and are only half a game behind the division leaders, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Mets have been impressive at home, sporting a 21-8 record when hosting and will look to add the Giants to their list of victims.

As this is their first game of a series of three, getting a big win will surely help them set the pace throughout the series.

That will be a tough task against the Giants though, as they are only one of the two teams in the NL West with a road record of above .500 and are 16-12 when visiting other stadiums.

The two teams will be meeting for the first time this season, with a scheduled return series in San Francisco in July.

After winning seven of their last eight meetings, the Giants are the favorites to win their series, though the Mets have proven that they are a strong team and could wow their home crowd with a big win.

Nori Aoki leads the Giants in Batting Average with .321, while Joe Panik also breaks the .300 mark with a .316, which is good for second.

Buster Posey leads the team with nine Home Runs, while Brandon Crawford has 38 Runs Batted In to lead the team.

In the other squad, Daniel Murphy has a .283 Batting Average to lead the team, while Wilmer Flores and Lucas Duda both have had nine Home Runs so far this season for the Mets.

Murphy also leads with 29 Runs Batted In and his play will be crucial for the Mets.
