Nintendo NX release date news: Leak points to March 4, 2017

(Facebook/Nintendo)Nintendo NX is projected to arrive in March 2017.

Apart from the March 2017 release window that has been announced, Nintendo's new console, the Nintendo NX, has been shrouded in mystery. However, a new leak may have inexplicably revealed the official date — March 4, 2017.

According to GamesRadar, the Amiibo website for Nintendo Europe made it known that the respective Amiibo for "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will be released on March 4, 2017. And since Nintendo typically releases its Amiibo offerings on or not long after the arrival of their games, it could be safe to make the assumption that the Nintendo NX will drop on or before the indicated date.

Reports believe that "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will come out for the Nintendo NX simultaneously with the console. However, since it remains unclear whether the post has any truth to it, fans should take this news with a grain of salt for now.

Many were expecting Nintendo to announce its upcoming console at the Tokyo Game Show. Since the event usually boasts a lot of big names, it was not surprising that many fans were under that assumption. However, Nintendo failed to attend the Tokyo Game Show.

It should be noted, though, that the Japanese company usually does not take part in the Tokyo Game Show. So their absence is not anything out of the ordinary. But as The Verge pointed out, the company also does not wait this long before making an announcement.

However, there is still hope that the console will be unveiled next month. It was previously reported that some analysts have pinpointed an announcement to be made in October.

In terms of what features will come with the console, it is believed that region locking will not be present this time around. This is a particularly attractive quality for players who like purchasing games from abroad.

More news and updates should arrive soon.
