Nintendo just revealed details on the upcoming theme park that is going to open in Japan. According to a report by Sankei News which was translated by Kotaku, $351 million is going to be invested in the theme park that is going to be located within Universal Studios, Osaka. The investment is similar to the acquisition of the "Harry Potter" franchise which is a very popular area within the theme park.

It can be recalled that last year, President of Nintendo Satoru Iwata gave details in an interview about the new formed alliance between the company and Universal Parks and Resort. He said:

"If I can talk a bit more about our just-announced alliance with Universal Parks & Resorts, we first met with them in April last year when I was visiting the U.S. on a business trip. We met people from NBC Universal who proposed the possibility of the theme park business to us. Even before then, the possibility of theme park attractions had become an often-discussed topic in society."

The speculation and debate has come to rest from this information and initially, the public thought that the theme park would be a whole independent park on its own, much like Disneyland.

Nintendo has a wide array of famous and loveable characters like Mario, Zelda, Ash, Link, Fox McCloud and others, which will not only adhere to gamers and fans but to introduce them also to kids and adults when the area opens. The target date of completion is in line with Japan hosting the Olympics in 2020. This means a lot of tourists will flock to Universal Studios, Osaka to have a firsthand experience of the beloved video game company and their characters.

Fans are undoubtedly excited about the opening of this new theme park. Stay tuned for the latest news and updates.
