In just a matter of hours, NVIDIA CEO and co-founder Jen-Hsun Huang is scheduled to deliver his keynote speech at the GPU Technology Conference 2016. Reports have suggested that Huang will use this opportunity to unveil his company's newest GPU, which has been code-named "Pascal."

Following its possible introduction, NVIDIA's newest GeForce GTX 1080 and 1070 graphics cards may be released as early as May or June. According to Swedish source Sweclockers, as translated by WCCFTech, NVIDIA may possibly demonstrate the new graphics cards during the upcoming Computex 2016.

According to WCCFTech, a reliable NVIDIA source, the upcoming GeForce GTX 1080 and GeForce GTX 1070 graphics cards are set to replace the current Maxwell-based GeForce GTX 980 and GeForce GTX 970 graphics cards. The new graphics cards will be based on the new GP104 architecture. They will also be built using the 16 nm FinFET process. Use of the 16 nm chips will help boost performance — reportedly to be almost double of what the current Maxwell GPUs are capable of. Furthermore, the new GPUs will also have up to 32 GB of VRAM support.

As a result, these graphics cards will help deliver the ultimate gaming performance. NVIDIA has also previously announced that its newest products will be suitable to use with today's current and upcoming trends, specifically with virtual reality, augmented reality, and 4K resolutions.

At this time, no official announcements have been made. Thus, it is important to take these details with a pinch of salt. Thankfully, with Huang's upcoming speech later today, computer enthusiasts will be able to gain a bit more clarity into NVIDIA's release schedule, depending on what will be revealed today.

Huang's GTC 2016 keynote speech commences today at 9:00 a.m. PT. The event will be streamed live on NVIDIA's official website. Be sure to check it out to see what NVIDIA has to offer.
