NVIDIA GTX 1070 GPU vs GTX Titan X and GTX 980 Ti: 1070 is faster and more affordable

(NVIDIA)The NVIDIA GTX 1070 GPU wins over the GTX Titan X and the GTX 980 Ti due to its affordable price tag.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 may not be as fast as the GeForce GTX 1080 GPU; however, its performance is supposedly comparable to the Maxwell-based GeForce GTX Titan X and GeForce GTX 980 Ti GPUs.

In terms of specs, the GTX 1070 comes with fewer CUDA cores (1920) compared to the GTX Titan X (3072) and the GTX 980 Ti (2816). However, the Pascal-based GPU is able to deliver faster speeds. The GTX 1070 has a memory clock of 8 Gbps, while the two others are at 7 Gpbs. Memory-wise, the GTX 1070 ranks in the middle with 8 GB of GDDR5. The GTX Titan X comes with 12 GB of GDRR5, while the GTX 980 Ti comes with 6 GB of GDRR5.

Despite having different specs, all three GPUs are comparable in terms of performance. The GTX 1070 performs slightly better than the other two.

Results from benchmark testing performed by Videocardz reveal that when running Full HD 1080p graphics, the GTX 1070 performs one percent faster than the GTX Titan X and three percent faster than the GTX 980 Ti. However, when running 4K Ultra HD graphics, the GTX 1070 gains a five percent lead over the two Maxwell-based GPUs.

On average, the GTX 1070 has a three percent lead over the GTX Titan X and a five percent lead over the GTX 980 Ti.

All three GPUs are VR Ready, SLI Ready, G-SYNC-Ready, and GameStream-Ready. However, the GTX 1070 also comes with support for the NVIDIA Ansel and the Vulkan API.

While there is a negligible difference in terms of performance, the GTX 1070 GPU comes with a much affordable price. The regular version is priced at $349, while the Founder's Edition is priced at $449. In comparison, the GTX Titan X costs $999 and the GTX 980 Ti costs $649.99.

Conclusion

Overall, the GTX 1070, the GTX Titan X, and the GTX 980 Ti GPUs deliver more or less the same level of performance. However, the GTX 1070 is aided by the more efficient Pascal architecture alongside innovative new gaming technologies and a sleeker, smaller design. The GTX 1070 GPU will also appeal more to mainstream gamers due to its affordable price tag.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 GPU will be available to purchase starting June 10.
