NVIDIA Pascal GPU release date news: Expected to launch at GTC 2016

The long wait for the next-generation NVIDIA Pascal graphic cards may be finally coming to an end soon. According to a report by Game Debate, the GPU microarchitecture is expected to be unveiled during the upcoming annual GPU Technology Conference (GTC) event. It will be happening beginning April 4 until April 7 at Silicon Valley where the NVIDIA is rumored to do a demo of its graphic cards.

Christian Today detailed that NVIDIA's CEO and co-founder Jen-Hsun Huang will be gracing the event as one of the keynote speakers along with other several high-ranking personnel from the Santa Clara-based company. Reports also revealed that the executives may begin marketing the company's product to the guests especially manufacturers during the event.

WCCF Tech reported that the product launch will then follow by June at the Computex. There are no official details yet on the products that will be unveiled, but the source mentioned that there were four different NVIDIA Pascal graphics cards that were shipped across NVIDIA's testing facilities. It also said that there are two more graphics boards — one is brand new while the other one is an updated design.

Latest reports say that the two additional NVIDIA Pascal graphics cards are valued at $110 and $700 per unit. The company is also said to release the first Pascal products for the notebook GPUs. There are no details yet regarding the desktop counterparts.

As for the features of the NVIDIA Pascal, Crossmap detailed that the products will have two times performance per watt estimated improvement over Maxwell. It is also said to be built on the 16 nm FinFET manufacturing process from TSMC and will feature four 4-Hi HBM2 stacks for a total of 16 GB of VRAM and 8-Hi stacks for up to 32 GB for the professional compute SKUs. It is also said to have a total of 17 billion transistors.
