Last week's episode provided quite a glimpse into Ursula's life, as audiences saw her complicated past with Hook. As she tried to escape her father, Poseidon, Hook made some questionable decisions that adversely affected her future. But Hook isn't the only one with a dark secret. Episode 16 will focus on Emma and her relationship with her parents, Snow White and Prince Charming.

According to the season's official synopsis, as reported by CaterMatt, Hook tells Emma that her fate is at stake in Gold's plan. Regina leads the Queens of Darkness on a wild goose chase while Henry makes a breakthrough in his search to locate the Author. While it appears to be good news, since much of season four focused on the Author's search, it seems that Mary Margaret aka Snow White and David aka Prince Charming need a moment to reconsider the best course of action. Are Mary and David hiding something from Emma? They are.

The synopsis further states that a flashback sequence of Fairy Tale Land will be seen, providing a shocking revelation. Snow and Charming are desperate to search for a way to ensure their child (Emma) will grow up to be a hero. They are searching for a way to retain her goodness. A travelling peddler directs them to visit a kindly old hermit. The hermit presents them with a choice that would secure their child's goodness, but at a price. This cost will haunt them for years to come. What decision did Snow and White make that will haunt them?

In a teaser clip for the upcoming episode, released by Hollywood Hills, it is shown that Emma is angry at Snow. Does this mean she knows what her parents have done to prevent her from going to the dark side? The video shows the Hermit warning them that once the spell is enacted it cannot be undone. Snow even tells Emma "I'm your mother", to which an angry daughter retorts "I don't care". What spell did the hermit cast that was so bad? Maleficent is also present in the flashback and she is seen begging for her child's life to Snow. Looks like audiences will better understand the role Snow played in killing Maleficent's child.
