A role reversal in the finale episode of the fourth run of the popular ABC show, "Once Upon a Time" left fans thrilled. The season had ended in such a manner that raised more questions than provided answers about how season 5 would play out.

With heroes becoming villains and villains becoming heroes, long-time viewers of the show are excitedly anticipating the upcoming OUAT series. Thankfully, snippets with details of the next release have been coming in much to the delight of the fans.

"Once Upon a Time" made its debut in 2011 and since then the show has been a contender for the 18-49 rating demographic. The show has run three more seasons and was renewed for a fifth one just this month.

The fourth season saw the protagonist, Emma Swan, daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, sacrificing herself in order for Regina, the evil witch to be released from the darkness that has plagued her for so long. This was the scene that ended series four and has led to many rumors and speculations.

While there is not a lot of information about the villainous Emma, it has been confirmed that the fifth installment will feature an interpretation of the famed sorcerer Merlin who is said to be the only one with the power to save her from the powers of an ancient darkness she sacrificed herself with.

There is also talk about the upcoming season introducing a villain who is claimed to be the worst that the show has ever seen. In an interview with Spinoff Online, John Dallas, who plays Prince Charming, dropped hints about the new bad guy, saying:

"The new big baddie is going to be really bad. It's the unimaginable. It's the worst thing that could possibly happen. It's going to be tough for everybody. It's going to be distressing for fans."

"Once Upon a Time" season 5 was greenlighted on May 7, 2015, though news about its release date is not yet available.
