The production leading up to the 'Orange Is The New Black' Season 3 premiere date is currently in the works, and the author of the memoir which the show was based on has released some information on how the storyline will go.

Piper Kerman says that Season 3 will feature more backstories of the current characters and will introduce new characters that will give a more layered, interesting narrative.

Kerman released the details during a seminar he held for 400 students of Lowell's University of Massachusetts, adding that the third season will be about the faith of the main characters.

Regaining faith or turning to faith is common among those incarcerated, so Kerman's revelation serves as something which was to be expected.

The author also revealed that her ex-lover, Cleary Wolters, whose character is shown as Alex Vause in the hit TV show, is planning to release a book during the time she spent in prison,

"I expect that my ex-lover's book will be a fascinating read. She's had a very different life, and her story is very different from mine. For one thing, she was much more involved in narcotics trafficking, and for the other thing she served a lot more time in prison than I did," Kerman revealed, as reported by Associated Press.

Kerman, though not writing for the Netflix adaptation of her memoir, serves as a consultant reviewing scripts before they are given to the cast members.
