'Outlander' season 3 spoilers, update: Filming delayed due to Caitriona Balfe being unwell?

(Facebook/OutlanderTVSeries.starz)"Outlander" season 3 will premiere in 2017.

Rumor has it that production for "Outlander" season 3 has hit a bit of a rough patch as star Caitriona Balfe is not well. However, it would seem that there is no truth to this speculation as nothing has been confirmed by the actress nor the show.

It was previously reported that filming for the third season of the Starz series would commence in August, as revealed by star Sam Heughan. But sudden rumors of Balfe being ill have fueled speculations that production may have been put on a brief pause. Fans need not worry, though, because it seems like this rumor is exactly just that — a rumor.

Season 3 of "Outlander" will see Jamie and Claire reuniting, but it will not come as an easy task. It will take a while before they see each other again as they both have their own journeys to deal with.

Because of Heughan and Balfe's convincing onscreen chemistry, many fans have been hoping that the pair would date in real life as well. And although it doesn't seem like they are going to spark a relationship, fans continue to cross their fingers.

The new season is also expected to portray an older version of Jamie. The previous season saw an older Claire. And because of the time-travelling aspect of the series and where it left off in the season 2 finale, it is Jamie's turn to look the part.

There has also been some talk of a beloved character dying in the upcoming season. Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix), a loyal friend and confidant of Jamie's, is reportedly going to die in season 3. This speculation stems from the fact that season 3 will take from the book "Voyager," and as avid fans know, the third novel in the series will depict the Battle of Culloden, the infamous battle where Murtagh perished.

Hopefully, a relatively new face will make up for the loss of a familiar one. A grown-up Lord John Grey is expected to appear in the third season of the series, which has sparked much excitement among fans of the show.

"Outlander" season 3 will premiere in 2017 on Starz.
