'Overwatch' release date: game caters to every kind of gamer

(Official Website of Overwatch)"Overwatch" is coming out this week and director Jeffrey Kaplan shared that the game intends to target a wide range of gamers.

The highly anticipated game "Overwatch" is coming out this week and reports are revealing that the game is not just your ordinary shooter as it wants to appeal to every kind of gamer.

According to Time, director Jeffrey Kaplan said that the game took inspiration from modern shooter games like "Battlefield" and "Call of Duty" then incorporated them with old-school shooters like "Quake" and "Doom." The result is remarkable and the game looks very promising as revealed by its beta testing where it managed to get 9.7 million players to try and experience the game. Kaplan also mentioned that the magic behind this hype is the fact that the company tries to cater to all audiences.

"It's always a Blizzard goal to speak to as wide an audience as possible. With our games, our development process is to always focus on the core or hardcore elements first, so we know we have something rich and deep and long lasting We don't start out casual, but once we've had that core of deep, rich, re-playable gameplay, we look at other ways of expanding the audience and going 'How could we make this more approachable to people?'"

Gamers and fans that have played the beta or have seen the footage would agree to this statement because the game not only attracts players who are into fast-paced shooters, such as "Call of Duty," but also does a great job in balancing it out with players who love strategy and tactics such as "Dota" where the characters have special skills at their disposal. This cohesion of mechanics and gameplay may prove to be one of Blizzard's crowning jewels aside from its popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) "World of Warcraft." Some gamers that are sceptical, especially since the game doesn't have a single-player campaign, can look beyond this and focus on the multiplayer aspect where most of the core content lies.

Blizzard is surely making the right steps in trying to penetrate through the console market. Hopefully, this keeps up especially since the developer has a lot on its plate, such as its upcoming "Warcraft" movie coming out on June 10.

More Blizzard and "Overwatch" news updates and patch notes coming soon.
