Josh Hartnett, famous for his roles in Wicker Park and Pearl Harbor, stars in Showtime's latest hit, 'Penny Dreadful,' as the sharpshooter Ethan Chandler.

While appearing at San Diego's 2014 Comic-Con, Hartnett spent some time to talk with Happy Cool and gave some insight as to what will happen in the Penny Dreadful Season 2.

When asked about what he thinks about Chandler's character development in the last season, the actor said that what the viewers saw is just the tip of the iceberg.

"I think we're just scraping the surface. He's very complex character and we wanted to tease him out in a way that we could only do in TV. I think John didn't have much for me to do in the first couple of episodes and he had to assure me that things are going to get more interesting as time went on," Hartnett said during the Happy Cool interview.

"The next season will be much more about what this character has to offer, so I kind had of a free year. I had some work but I wasn't overworked. So next season hopefully I'll be on the set a little bit more," Hartnett continued.

When asked if there was anything about his character that surprised him, the actor said it is only because of the show's creator, John Logan's, scripts.

"It's always surprising to pick up John's scripts. He writes these beautiful dialogues," the actor said further.
