Videogame fans were eagerly looking towards last month's Tokyo Game Show for news about the upcoming "Persona 5" title. It has been three years since the most recent installment was made available, so the anticipation for the event was not truly unfounded. Unfortunately, instead of a definite release date fans were only met with disappointment.

During the show, Atlus announced that they are delaying the release of "Persona 5." According to the game development company, they are aware of how much gamers have been looking forwards to the debut of the game and because of the expectations, they are delaying its release to make sure that the title is the best it can be.

"The strengths of the Persona series are compelling characters, a moving, relatable story, and a borderline obsession with minutiae - elements which can't be rushed or taken lightly. So while ATLUS realizes the frustration and disappointment that this must cause for the JRPG-loving public, please know that we are delaying the game in order to make sure the next iteration of the Persona series lives up to the expectations of fans." read Atlus' statement as reported by IGN.

More recently, "Persona" director, Katsura Hashino, has opened up about his reasons for hampering the fifth game from hitting the market. In an interview via Daily Motion as reported by Christian Today, he has confirmed Atlus' statement further revealing that while parts of the game are already completed, it is now a matter of polishing up the gameplay. He was also quick to reassure gamers that the development for "Persona 5" is progressing without a hitch and in no time they would be releasing a game that is truly worth the wait.

Neither Atlus nor Katsura Hashino has revealed when avid gamers should expect "Persona 5" however the fifth installment for the franchise is speculated to be available by summer of next year.
