After top-billing one comedy film after another, it is now rumored that Zac Efron will be part of the planned "Pitch Perfect 3," allegedly to play the role of Adam DeVine's (Bumper) younger brother.

If this rumor turns out to be true, "Pitch Perfect 3" will be the second time for Efron and DeVine to play siblings in a movie. Recently, the actors shared the screen as the hard-partying Stangle brothers via the comedy "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates," which has only raked in less than $50 million as its worldwide gross as of this writing, based on the records of Box Office Mojo.

However, it turns out that the rumor of Efron being a part of "Pitch Perfect 3" is nothing but a wish for DeVine, who said in an interview that he wants Efron to be part of the movie as his younger brother once more in the event that he will still be part of the next installment.

In an interview with Pop Sugar, DeVine revealed that he had not been signed for "Pitch Perfect 3" yet, and if he can't return to the movie, Efron can be ushered into it as his younger brother. DeVine also revealed that they are attempting to talk to Efron into being a part of the movie.

"Trying really hard," side-remarked Efron, while DeVine was explaining.

"Not a chance... I don't think I could because when he (DeVine) does it, it's great. He's so funny," opined Efron when he asked to comment on DeVine's theory that his Bumper character might not return to "Pitch Perfect 3" and will be replaced instead by the role of Bumper's younger brother to be played by him.

Basing on Efron's statement, it seems that he is not interested in lending his presence to "Pitch Perfect 3." However, his fans can look forward to another film that will showcase him in his shirtless glory via the film "Baywatch," where he plays the role of Matt Brody, a lifeguard who will be at odds with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Mitch Buchannon character.

"Baywatch" the movie is slated for a May 19, 2017 release.

In other news, last month, Variety reported that Efron was in talks for a possible inclusion in Hugh Jackman's upcoming film "The Greatest Showman on Earth." However, as of this writing, the result of the talks in the negotiating table for his possible role in the Jackman starrer has not been revealed.

Meanwhile, with or without Efron and DeVine, "Pitch Perfect 3" is believed to be released in December 2017 instead of the earlier rumored date of summer 2017.
