PlayStation Plus games for April not looking good compared to Xbox Live Gold free games lineup

Sony needs more A-list PS Plus free games for April if it wants to appear respectable in light of Xbox One's barrage of free games launching next month.

Xbox One announced through its YouTube channel four blockbuster Games with Gold freebies: the entire season of "The Wolf Among Us," which is based on the popular DC series; "Sunset Overdrive," an open-world post-apocalyptic playground"DeadSpace," the survival space shooter game; and "Saints Row IV," the open-world game that is almost like "GTA."

So far, PlayStation Plus gamers only have "DeadStar" as A-list among PS Plus free games for April, as gamers await an official Sony announcement for more major games for PS Plus subscribers.

The pressure is on Sony. It needs to release A-list titles to compete with Xbox Games with Gold, which also has "Lords of the Fallen", "Borderlands,"and "Crimes and Punishment: Sherlock Holmes" for Xbox Live Games with Gold subscribers.

Not that PS Plus is lacking in free games, but many of the PS Plus Free Games for April are indie titles, such as "Broforce" and "Galak-Z." Both games lack the novel features gamers want such as life-like shooters and high-definition actions.

PlayStation, though, still enjoys a big lead ahead of Xbox in console sales $35.9 million versus Xbox One's $15 million as of January 2016, a rough estimate report by the International Business Times. If the latter will only shell out more freebies among cross-platform hit games, PS4 may be in trouble.

In fact, Microsoft may be thinking along that line as it announced plans to support PC and PS4 games in Xbox Live. If gamers connect the dots, gamers can't help but think Microsoft may be planning to grab market share by pushing free cross-platform games to counter Sony's exclusive game dominance.

Both consoles have exclusive titles such as "Bloodborne," "Dragon Quest," and "Until Dawn" for PlayStation 4; and "Halo 5: Guardians," "Gears of War: Ultimate Edition," and "Rise of the Tomb Raider" for Xbox One.
