The power play between James "Ghost" St. Patrick and Tommy Egan resumes when "Power" returns for a third season.

"Power's" sophomore season ended with James, a.k.a. Ghost (Omari Hardwick), and his longtime friend, Tommy (Joseph Sikora), having a major falling-out. To make matters worse, Kanan's (Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson) grudge against Ghost comes to a head, with the two engaged in a fight to the death. The drug kingpin was able to stab his mentor, leaving him for dead in a burning building. However, it was later revealed that someone had apparently broken out of the building, hinting that Kanan had survived.

If Kanan is indeed alive, he's just one more person who will be gunning for Ghost in "Power" season 3. A trailer for the upcoming season plainly states that "Ghost Must Die" and Tommy might be the one to put him down. The clip starts with a shot of Ghost looking out into the night. An associate later tells him that they need him, but he says he's "out of the game." Ghost is then shown leading his erstwhile lover, Angela Valdez (Lela Loren), into his nightclub. Fans will recall that the US Attorney and Ghost parted ways in season 2, but it seems they have rekindled their relationship. However, it seems their love will be hitting a rough patch soon as one scene in the trailer shows a lawyerly looking man telling Ghost that he might have to decide between protecting himself or his girl.

The clip also shows various scenes of the series' major players. Tommy is shown stating that he's "gonna put a bullet" in Ghost's head. There are quick glimpses of Holly (Lucy Walters), Tasha (Naturi Naughton), Ghost's competitors, and even Kana lending further credence that the former kingpin has indeed survived Ghost's assault. The trailer ends with Holly giving a gun to Tommy and telling him that she knows he can kill Ghost for her. He's later seen aiming the gun at his best friend.

It would be interesting to see if the ever-loyal Tommy has it in him to take down his best friend. But after being betrayed by Ghost, he might find the act of betraying his friend easy to do.

The premiere episode of "Power" season 3 will be aired on Starz on July 17 at 9 p.m.
