Power season 4 spoilers, news: 'Fast and Furious' star joins cast for major role; Dre takes over Ghost's job

(Power.Starz / Facebook)"Power" season 4 is eyed to premiere in summer 2017 on Starz.

Starz's hit crime drama "Power" just recently completed its season 3 run. Even before the season wrapped up, the series already received a renewal for two more seasons. Here is what's known about the upcoming season 4.

"Power" season 3 premiered a record-setting 2.26 million viewers, which Deadline reported as the best original series premiere and most-watched episode of the Starz network. After the impressive season 3 opening, the network renewed the series for seasons 4 and 5 right away. Network's CEO Chris Albrecht credited executive producer and showrunner Courtney Kemp for her talent and authentic voice that make the series stand out.

In the season 3 finale, Ghost (Omari Hardwick) hosted a party to celebrate his career while trying to retrieve evidence. Tasha (Naturi Naughton), on the other hand, made an unexpected alliance so she can save her family. Meanwhile, Tommy (Joseph Sikora) started a dangerous game against Milan (Callan Mulvey).

As for season 4, according to reports, "Fast and Furious" star Sung Kang will be joining the series for a major role. Although Kemp has not revealed the details of his character, she shared that his role is an influential character that has something to do with Angela (Lela Loren). Kang's character will be introduced in the first episode of season 4.

Since Ghost has to leave his post while the investigation continues, Kemp revealed that Ghost's underling, Dre (Rotimi), will be doing the job on his behalf.

In a separate Deadline report, Kemp said, "Dre really steps into this incredibly ambitious, almost to what I'd say, I call him Baby Ghost. In Season 4 we see a lot of this, we see Baby Ghost emerge. It's because just as with Ghost and Tommy, and they got rid of Kanan, they murdered Breeze and then they grew into themselves. Well, Ghost is arrested and it gives Dre an opportunity to grow, not only in the clubs but in the drug business, so that's one aspect."

"Power" season 4 is eyed to premiere in summer 2017 on Starz.
