The head honchos over at Fox have finally confirmed the rumors surrounding "Prison Break." According to Dana Walden and Gary Newman, the network is developing a 10-episode "Prison Break" event that will feature Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller.

This is very welcome news for the series' fans but it does raise questions, especially since Miller's character, Michael Scofield, died on the original show.

Fox CEO, Walden, talked more about the alleged sequel during the network's Television Critic's Association's press tour. Walden says the upcoming "Prison Break" series is "a bit of a sequel" and confirms that "the brothers will be back. Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back." More importantly, the new series will endeavor to answer the questions left behind by Michael's alleged death in the TV movie "Prison Break: The Final Break."

It was initially said that "Prison Break's" creator and writer, Paul Scheuring, would ignore the events of "The Final Break," but Walden has clarified that they cannot "completely ignore what happened" in the show's last season. However, fellow Fox CEO, Newman, said that what the "A Man Apart" writer pitched to them was "a very logical and believable explanation" as to why the main character is still alive.

Walden also reminded the reporters present during the TCA that Scheuring was not involved in the final season of "Prison Break" and that he had "other ideas about where these characters were headed, but it will connect to that episode."

Aside from Miller's situation, another polarizing dilemma is that of Sarah Wayne Callies' character as her decapitated head was delivered to Purcell's Lincoln Burrows as a warning. But Walden says that the series' new season will give the 46-year-old Scheuring the chance to finally tell the story of his characters.

While the new "Prison Break" might take "a detour," the network is certain that fans would be happy with the story and "excited about seeing these characters back together again."

"Prison Break" is still in the early development phase but both Walden and Newman say that production would start as soon as Scheuring is done plotting out the 10-episodes.
