'Prison Break' season 5 release date, cast news update: Sara dead after time jump?

It has taken a bit of time to confirm whether the actress Sarah Wayne Callies is reprising her role as Sara Tancredi in Fox's upcoming series revival of "Prison Break." In the ensuing wait, rumors are flying around that Tancredi may be killed off in the series, should Callies' schedule not allow her return.

(Facebook/PrisonBreakTheofficialpage)Prison Break season 5 revival will air in late 2016 or early 2017.

At an interview with Flickering Myth, the actress has said, "I have gotten the call, and we're really working on it." She added, "I've gotta have faith they're going to make it work because they know how much it means to me, and it means a lot to them too, so fingers crossed there'll be good news."

It is unavoidable, what with these rumors on Sara, that, in the event that she does not make season 5, the five-year jump between the last season and the upcoming one will see Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) returning with vengeance in his mind. In which case, there will really be no happy ending for Sara and Michael.

An earlier rumor said that if Callies makes it back into the series, the time jump would have the show open with Sara having a new husband, Scott Ness (Mark Feuerstein). Feuerstein's character could then go either way: as Michael's friend or enemy — and still no happy ending in sight for Sara and Michael. Everything about this love triangle hinges on Callies' return. It appears that the actress has a very busy schedule, although she has indicated a desire to be back on the show.

Another former cast member may also be coming back to the show, Robert Knepper, who played the show's villain T-Bag.

Meantime, the revival of "Prison Break" will take place in Vancouver with nine episodes slated for season 5. Air date is speculated to be by late 2016 or early 2017.
