When 'Prometheus' was released on June, 2012, it raked in an astounding $402 million in ticket sales worldwide. This prompted the project for a sequel, 'Prometheus 2,' and reports are suggesting that pre-production for the second film is already ongoing.

Ridley Scott famously sat in the director's chair for the first movie, but it is still uncertain whether Scott will take the helm again for Prometheus 2.

However, Michael Fassbender is rumored to be reprising his role as David, and Noomi Rapace will also return as Elizabeth Shaw. Danny Webb is also reported to be joining the second installment as Morse.

One of the main reasons that caused the delay in production of Prometheus 2 is screenwriter's Damon Lindelof's decision to not pursue on penning the sequel.

It is said that Lindelof is currently busy crafting the script for another sci-fi film called "Tomorrowland." Jake Paglen is set to replace Lindelof as the head screenwriter for Prometheus 2.

According to forums that discuss the sequel called "Prometheus 2: Paradise," multiple android versions of David are to be expected.

It is also said that the sequel will take cues from the movie "Alien," and will have a scarier and "horror-esque" tone compared to the first movie.
