In the run-up to E3 2016, the rumor mill has started to churn with whispers that the game "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be announced. Additionally, even though very little official information about the game is available, analysts and other industry watchers are certain that it will be announced.

Several websites have pointed towards earnings reports which were released recently by Rockstar Games. In it, the developer outlined that it is close to announcing several new games that are in development. Since this particular piece of information was announced before E3 2016, which takes place from June 12 to June 16, many analysts are of the opinion that some game announcements would be arriving during the conference.

One of these new games is also rumored to be a new IP, but all this is just based on hazy information and so analysts are waiting for E3 2016 to come around to see if "Red Dead Redemption 2" does make an appearance.

However, even though Rockstar Games has hinted at the announcement of new games, there have been very few rumors about "Red Dead Redemption 2." The only one which has arrived so far came in the form of a leaked map for the game and it was reported earlier this year. More importantly, the leaked map was described as an art direction model and it was even corroborated by an independent source. Also, the details included in the map suggested that the upcoming "Red Dead Redemption 2" game would be a prequel and not a sequel. The location for the game has also been shifted and it will allow players to explore an area which lies to the east of the map in the original game.

As for the name of the upcoming "Red Dead Redemption 2" game, it is thought that it will have the subtitle "Legends of the West." There are also indications that after Rockstar Games announces the game during E3 2016, the release date will be pegged as sometime in 2017.
