(Credit: REUTERS/MARIO ANZUONI)Actress Renée Zellweger, who became famous for movies such as 'Chicago' and 'Bridget Jones's Diary,' poses at the 21st annual ELLE Women in Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles, California on October 20, 2014.

When Renee Zellweger made an appearance at Elle Women in Hollywood, various media outlets, both online and on television, reacted negatively about her looks.

"I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows," said the actress to People.

Though the actress is fully aware that critics refer to her new and revamped look as 'plastic,' Zellweger acknowledges the comments.

She mentioned of her hectic schedule barring her from taking good care of herself, that led her to undergo drastic measures to maintain her looks, including a daily running routine.

"Rather than stopping to recalibrate, I kept running until I was depleted and made bad choices about how to conceal the exhaustion," the actress explained in the same People interview.

She said that she was made aware of the chaos and finally decided to choose different things and perhaps, a different path.

Renee Zellweger also recognized the need for her to love herself and thanked the people around her who taught her how to grow.

She paused and momentarily veered away from the limelight to learn new things, give her love life a little more time and venture into creative projects that allowed her to mature.

She shrugged of the negative vibe around her new appearance and quipped, "Who doesn't as they get older?! Ha. But I am different. I'm happy."
