'Rick and Morty season 3' release date news: Creators, Adult Swim tease fans due to constant demands for season 3

It is too early for April Fools, and fans no longer know what to feel about the series of jokes dropped by Adult Swim and the creators of the adult animated science fiction sitcom "Rick and Morty."

(Facebook/RickandMorty)"Rick and Morty" season 3 release date still up in the air

To begin with, "Rick and Morty" season 3 has been confirmed and is still in development. Fans have been anxious and have grown needier for new content. And with their constant badgering, it seems like the creators of the sci-fi sitcom, which is loosely based on "Back to The Future," have learned to adapt. They apparently have found it amusing to tease fans for wanting more episodes.

On the official "Rick and Morty" account, the creators wrote: "When the fk is Fargo season 3 coming out? Feels like we've been waiting forever." The statement taunts a number of "Rick and Morty" fans who have uttered the same rhetoric for months now.

In addition, co-creator Justin Roiland took to Twitter to answer Freddie Wong's question about whether or not his entire timeline is composed of people begging for season 3. The co-creator teased, "pretty much. When they find out it's never coming....yeesh. It's gonna get gnarly."

Adult Swim Australia, however, launched a trailer that got everyone's hopes up for a while. But upon close inspection, any "Rick and Morty" fan would know that the clip is not a trailer for the upcoming season but rather a compilation of previous episodes.

According to the network, it was a technical error on their part. Their editing program has a few glitches, which they are going to fix right away, they said. And they also apologized to fans who fell victim to the trailer, which now has millions of views. A number of fans were not impressed by the bogus trailer, but a few managed to laugh it off.

The network has yet to set a release date for the third season of the series.

More updates on "Rick and Morty" season 3 should arrive soon.
