Ronda Rousey would love to play 'Captain Marvel' in movie slated for 2018 release
Ronda Rousey has so far overcome every challenge she has set for herself. Now, the mixed martial artist has set her eyes on another challenge, bringing a female superhero to life.
During a recent Reddit AMA, the 28-year-old former Olympian was asked by a member of the audience which superhero she would like to portray.
The "Expendables" actress said that most of the good super heroes were already taken but that she would "like to vie for Miss Marvel.''
"Miss Marvel" was the original name of "Captain Marvel." As Carol Danvers, the character works in the military. As "Captain Marvel," Danvers is blessed with inhuman strength, can fly, absorb energy and project it out. The character will reportedly have her own standalone film in 2018.
While no one has been cast yet, there have been rumblings that Emily Blunt is being considered for the role. However, fans of both the comic book character and Rousey would probably agree that the judoka can step in and fill "Captain Marvel's" shoes.
Rousey is no stranger to acting too, even though she only scored her first acting gig in 2014 in the movie "The Expendables 3." She followed it up with "Furious 7" and "Entourage." Now, it seems that Rowdy Rousey will have a bigger role to play in her next film. The MMA champion is rumored to be starring in a biopic about her life. The movie is said to be based on her best-selling autobiography "My Fight/Your Fight."
But how will Rousey find the time to shoot films in between her training and UFC fights? The budding actress has obviously considered the situation and has come up with a plan of attack.
According to Rousey, her plan was to basically go and fight Bethe Correia (she knocked out the Brazilian in 34 seconds) and then take some time off to rest.
"Then I'm going to go beat up Miesha [Tate], and then I'm going to go to, like, Thailand or wherever we decide to film ('Mile 22') and prep for like a month," Rousey ticked off her schedule. "And then start filming for like eight to 10 weeks, and then go beat up the next chick."
