Samsung Gear S3 release date, news: Wearable may be launched at IFA event in early September

Samsung Electronics may very well be gearing up for the next iteration of its lucrative smartwatch Samsung Gear 2 as the company is hinted to be making an expensive version of the device that is slated to be launched at the International Funkausstellung Berlin in Germany on the first of September this year.

Codenamed as "Solaris," the smartwatch's company has already commissioned the aid of luxury brand De Grisogono to create an expensive version of the upcoming device. The continued collaboration between the stylish brand and the Korean technology firm was first announced by the Korean Herald. The next collaboration follows the success of the highly stylized Samsung Gear S2. Accordingly, the predecessor's version, the De Grisogono Gear is retailing at around $15,000 with only 100 units made on a monthly basis.

Meanwhile, the specifications of Samsung Gear S3 have also made the rounds on the internet in a somewhat discreet fashion. The smartwatch is expected to sport the same rotating bezel from the previous entry. The rotating bezel is the circular mechanism on the device that handles tasks such as zooming in and out of pictures, alarm setting and scrolling. The entire design of the device has remained undisclosed.

The smartwatch will also be encased in a metallic chassis in a form of a wristband. Moreover, it is expected to be armed with a built-in GPS which would aid its users to track their activities more efficiently. The device is speculated to be featured in a variety of unlocked models such as the SM-R760, SM-R765, along with SM-R770; two carrier versions SM-R765V and SM-R765S will also be included.

The device will also be embedded with an array of enhancements. These include a Tizen operating system, Samsung Payment platform support, an improved user interface and a more durable battery.
