Samsung Gear S3 release date, specs rumors: wearable set for IFA 2016 unveiling

Following several rumors about the unveiling of the Samsung Gear S3, multiple outlets now confirm that the wearable is still up for an unveiling during this year's IFA event.

According to the reports, the sequel to the Samsung Gear S2 will most likely be revealed during the trade show's press day, which is August 31. This is a reasonable prediction since Samsung has also tweeted a subtle message last week, seemingly confirming the reports.

"Stay tuned for a timely innovation. August 31. Berlin," the post reads. The Twitter post also has a short GIF that reads: "TALK ABOUT 3. Gear 3. 1 August 2016." This is by far the closest fans have regarding when the new wearable will be seen. There have been no changes as far as the unveiling is concerned since Samsung has not made any new announcements about a change in dates whatsoever.

Digital Spy suggests that given this timeline, Samsung will most likely start releasing Gear S3s by October, in line with the rumored release of Apple's Watch 2. It's again a reasonable prediction since Samsung and Apple are known to be in good competition and sometimes launch their devices almost at the same weeks of the year.

Meanwhile, it is expected that the Samsung Gear S3 will come with a more classic design as it is said to be slimmer and will be a more smartphone-friendly device. Coming with a metal bracelet and a fluted bezel, fans will surely feel right at home with this new innovation and change in style.

Other reports suggest that the wearable will come with three variants namely: the Gear S3 Classic, the Gear S3 Frontier and the Gear S3 Explorer. Not much is known about the variants except that they will all sport the same rotating bezel. For now, fans should stay tuned to the IFA 2016 conference, which kicks off on August 31 in Berlin, Germany.
