With the way season 4 ended, fans of "Scandal" have been left obsessing over how the premiere of the fifth season will play out. While the upcoming season won't be aired until fall, the spoilers have already been leaked and even confirmed by the cast, further fuelling the excitement over the upcoming show.

"Scandal", which first premiered in 2012, is a "political thriller" shown on ABC. The show focuses on the life of Olivia Pope as she and her associates in her crisis management firm navigate their way through Washington DC. The show is loosely based on the experiences of Judy Smith, former George H.W. Bush's press aide. While "Scandal" initially met with average to positive reviews, the later seasons received higher viewership numbers, averaging 10 million in the third and fourth series.

The fourth season finale ended with more questions than answers. Several sequences have raised questions about how the upcoming series would play out.

Among the most open ended developments is Olivia Pope's supposed reunion with President Fitzgerald. The episode saw Millie being thrown out of the White House and Ballard giving Pope the permission to be with the President. But it will be the upcoming season that will reveal if the two ex-lovers will finally be involved.

Elizabeth North will also be playing a greater role in season 5, having been promoted to chief of staff at the end of the previous series. In a report by VCpost, Portia De Rossi, the actress playing Elizabeth, commented on how her character might be looking for revenge on season 5:

"She was tired of getting kicked around. She was sick of being Mellie's dog, someone who fetches whatever she wants. It was payback time for Lizzie Bear (Elizabeth). She had enough, so she made a big bold power move."

The most exciting revelation that season 5 probably holds will be the answer to whether or not Quinn fires the gun he was last seen pointing at Huck. Guillermo Diaz, the actor who plays Huck, was asked in an interview about the fate of his character and was quoted as saying:

"I don't know! That's a Shonda question. A couple of weeks ago, she emailed us all and said the ending was changed. In the original script, Quinn ends up walking away from Huck and obviously doesn't shoot him. So who knows what's gonna happen, but that's what makes Scandal so exciting... Now we have to wait and see. I have no idea if I'm dead or alive!"

Fans will have to wait a little longer for all the cliff hangers to be addressed. No specific date has been announced, but the fifth season of "Scandal" is confirmed to air in fall this year.
