'Scandal' season 6 spoilers: Rowan's next plan to be revealed

(Facebook/ScandalABC)Rowan gears up for his next plan in "Scandal" season 6.

Rowan's (Joe Morton) next plan for Jake (Scott Foley) and Olivia (Kerry Washington) will soon be revealed in the new season of "Scandal."

Last installment, the couple thought they finally got rid of Rowan. Olivia's father acted like he was defeated when his daughter pulled off the perfect scheme. She made Jake a vice presidential candidate under Mellie's (Bellamy Young) ticket. This gave them breathing space from Command who was determined to control their lives. At the end though, viewers could see that what happened was exactly part of Rowan's plan. He knew what his girl was capable of.

As per Foley in a previous Variety interview, Rowan's thirst for power has not waned even a bit.

"You can't really cross Command so how the h*** is Olivia going to save Jake without ending up dead herself? It's a crazy conundrum. The fact that she came up with this idea of saving Jake right in front of his face, I thought was really smart. But, turns out, it's sort of what Rowan has wanted all along — getting back into the Oval and getting the position of power, and now it looks like that's through both Olivia and Jake," the actor told the magazine.

The new season is expected to reveal Rowan's next plan. Jake will have a tough time winning against Cyrus (Jeff Perry) in the race to become the next VP. The other man has more political clouts than he does. Rowan is expected to make things possible for Jake behind the scenes. He needs him to win so he can return to the White House. As for whether Rowan is still against Olivia ending up with Jake, he has always said that the two are brother and sister, even though not by blood.

Meanwhile, rumors continue to claim that the show will end after season 6. As per Movie News Guide, ABC will likely release the first six episodes in January. Afterwards, the network will announce that the second half of the season will be the last. There is also the rumor that executive producer Shonda Rhimes cannot handle the show anymore. She is reportedly too busy with the other series she is currently taking care of.

"Scandal" season 6 is expected to have a midseason premiere on ABC in 2017.
