'Shameless' season 7 spoilers, news: June Squibb to recur as Etta; Ian and Mickey to reunite?

(Facebook/ShamelessOnShowtime)"Shameless" season 7 will premiere on Oct. 2 on Showtime.

"Shameless" season 7 has added June Squibb to its ever-growing list of cast members. Squibb will be playing a character named Etta and will recur in the new season.

Described as "a salty and peppery 80-year-old," Etta hails from the Southside of Chicago, according to The Hollywood Reporter. But don't be fooled by her age, because Etta has apparently owned the neighborhood for a long time. It is unclear how Squibb's character will play into the story of the upcoming season, but fans are nonetheless excited.

In other cast news, Sharon Lawrence has been tapped to play a real estate tycoon named Margo. She also happens to be Fiona's (Emmy Rossum) boss at the coffee shop that she owns. Earlier in July, it was reported that four new faces will also recur in the seventh season of the comedy drama series.

Alicia Coppola, Arden Myrin, Pasha Lychnikoff, and Ruby Modine have all joined the roster. Coppola will be playing a no-nonsense girl named Sue, who will work with Ian (Cameron Monaghan). Myrin has been tapped to play a homeless woman who will get with Frank (William H. Macy). Lychnikoff will play Svetlana's (Isidora Goreshter) father, Yvan. And finally, Modine will bring to life a character named Sierra, a new waitress Fiona will manage.

As for the plot of the new season, it is widely rumored that Caleb (Jeff Pierre) will be caught cheating by Ian. This will inevitably end their relationship. Many believe that this will cause Ian and Mickey (Noel Fisher) to get closer once again after their failed relationship.

The season 6 finale ended with Frank being plunged into a river. He managed to wreck Fiona and Sean's (Dermot Mulroney) wedding. Season 7 will see a one-month time jump and will begin with Frank waking up from a coma. He vows revenge on his family after what they did to him.

"Shameless" season 7 will premiere on Oct. 2 on Showtime.
