Fiona (Emmy Rossum) will enjoy being single for a while after her tough break-up with ex-fiance Sean (Dermot Mulroney) in the seventh season of the Showtime series "Shameless."

Sean and Fiona were supposed to get married during the season 6 finale, but her father, Frank (William H. Macy), made sure that the ceremony would not take place. He told her that Sean was a drug-addict and that he was keeping many secrets from her for a long time. Sean did not deny Frank's accusations and even admitted to Fiona that he had drugs before the wedding started. They decided to part ways amicably, but deep down, Fiona was once again devastated because of what happened.

She has been in the dating game for quite a while. Fiona really thought Sean was the man for her. Now that they have called it quits, it looks like she will take some time off to focus more on herself for season 7. Executive producer Nancy Pimental told The Hollywood Reporter that Fiona would probably not date for a while. She said that the character would feel quite fed up about everything regarding dating and relationships.

"You get away with a lot of stuff in your early 20s where you can be a party girl and bounce from guy to guy and have every opportunity you want but getting into your late 20s it becomes not so cute anymore. How many times do you have to learn your lesson? It's a crossroads: Who are you going to be? Debs has a baby; Lip has choices — so what is your identity?" she said.

Meanwhile, Pimental cleared with TV Line the rumor about Mulroney exiting the show. She said that although Fiona and Sean have parted ways, there is no confirmation yet that it is also the end of the actor's stint in the series. Mulroney joined the cast in season 5 as a replacement for Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

"Shameless" season 7 is expected to return early 2017 on Showtime.
