'Sleepy Hollow' season 4 air date, cast news: John Noble returns

(Facebook/SleepyHollow)"Sleepy Hollow" season 4 does not have a premiere date yet.

Fox has yet to announce the release date of "Sleepy Hollow" season 4, but one thing is for sure: it is definitely a go. And considering the surprising cast shake-ups the show experienced, it comes as comforting news that John Noble will be back for the fourth season.

It can be recalled that Noble played the role of Henry Parrish/Jeremy Crane in the first two seasons of the show. And as reported by Deadline, the revelation of his reintroduction came at the New York Comic-Con, where a clip of the upcoming season featured him. However, it remains unclear how he plays into the story, or how he will return, seeing as his character died at the conclusion of season 2.

Apart from Noble, two new cast members have been added to fill the void left by Nicole Beharie, who played Abbie Mills in the first four seasons. Beharie's character was one of the two leads, so Abbie's death and the actress' departure from the show came as a shock to everyone. However, Janina Gavankar will be replacing her as a character named Diana Thomas. Her character is poised "to be sort of the grounding force... to reintroduce this idea of how weird this universe is."

Jeremy Davies will be playing the villainous Malcolm Dreyfuss, a wealthy 30-year-old tech tycoon. His character is described as being hungry for power and seeking to achieve that by taking over other worlds.

The upcoming season will take place in Washington, D.C., shifting from the eponymous town of Sleepy Hollow. It has been said that the fourth season will be channeling the basics that were introduced in earlier seasons, focusing on the horror and comedy of the series.

After Beharie exited the show, many thought that "Sleepy Hollow" would get the axe. However, Fox executives apparently liked the scripts for the fourth season that were pitched to them, resulting in its renewal.
