Good news for European gamers as the highly anticipated "Sonic Mania" is also slated to be released in Europe.

Gamers who grew up playing "Sonic the Hedgehog" games undoubtedly rejoiced when Sega announced last month that the company would be releasing a "Sonic Mania Collector's Edition." However, the merry-making quickly came to a stop when it was revealed that it won't be released in Europe.

But it seems the video game developer has had a major change of heart and has decided earlier this week to release the game in Europe as well. According to Ivo Gerscovich, Chief Brand Officer of Sonic Pillar, "our fans across the world are important to us" and they have been thrilled with the fan excitement surrounding the game in Europe.

"While we weren't able to announce the 'Sonic Mania Collector's Edition' simultaneously with North America, we are now pleased to announce it's available for pre-order for Europe," Gerscovich announced.

Gamers who pre-order the Collector's Edition will be getting a boxful of goodies, including a 12-inch statue of Sonic standing on a Sega Mega Drive base, a cast SEGA game cartridge that comes with a golden ring and, last but not the least, a special Metallic Collector's Card with a download code.

"Sonic Mania" is a brand-new game that will take gamers back to the hedgehog's 2D roots. Gamers can play as Sonic, Knuckles the Echidna, or Tails the Fox and battle Dr. Eggman in new Zones and updates Classics arena.

The Collector's Edition is a wonderful throwback to the classic video games of the 80s and 90s and a smart move on SEGA's part. The company is reportedly looking to bring back the popularity of the iconic blue hedgehog and re-introduce other Sonic titles that might not have been that well-received before. And what better time to do that than during the game's 25^th anniversary.

The "Sonic Mania Collector's Edition" can be pre-ordered for about $69.99 or £79.99 on Amazon. It will roll out on the PC and the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles sometime in 2017.
