'Spider-Man' reboot news: Drew Goddard might be involved in the upcoming adaptation

The very first modern adaptation of the widely successful "Spider-Man" franchise was released more than a decade ago. Still, the fandom surrounding the series remains strong, so much so that the announcement of yet another reboot, the second one since the original in 2002, is almost unsurprising. However, there are certain aspects of the upcoming reboot that avid audiences are most excited about.

Unlike the other "Spider-Man" movies, the "Spider-Man" reboot will not be looking back to the original story of the famous Marvel character. In the first two adaptations, the death of Peter Parker's beloved Uncle Ben was a pivotal point in the film, however, this time, the focus would be on the life of the teenage Peter Parker.

Spider-Man has been played by two great actors, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. For the reboot, Tom Holland, a 19-year-old actor, has signed on to play the iconic superhero. While fans are apprehensive about the casting of the relatively unknown "Billy Elliot" lead, arguably, Holland would be the actor closest to the comic book age of Peter Parker.

Garfield, who was the most recent Spider-Man, seems to be more receptive to Holland's casting than the franchise's fans. In a recent interview, Garfield talked about Holland, praising and assuring followers that the young actor is more than talented enough for the role.

"It feels lovely especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor. He was in this movie 'The Impossible' and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor. And he is a dancer so his body is the right form," he said.

Elsewhere, it has been speculated that Drew Goddard might be taking the lead in writing the reboot. And with his possible involvement in the project, several assumptions can be deduced based on what Goddard has been known for.

According to a report by Cinemablend.com, fans can expect five major aspects of the upcoming film to be noticeably different. For one, this time there would be no origin story and Peter Parker will be a high school student, just like the Spider-man from "The Amazing Spider-Man" series.

The reports also postulated that the reboot might see Spider-Man squaring off with Iron Man in the assumption that the hero will debut in "Captain America: Civil War." In Goddard's version, Spider-Man would not be an Avenger yet. In addition, Spider-Man will be very much a part of the tentative "Sinister 6" film.

"Spider-Man" reboot is expected to be released in July 2017.
