'Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens' spoilers: Actor Ken Leung added as new cast member

There's less than six months left for the release of the iconic and highly anticipated "Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens". Arguably, one of the largest films to hit the theatres this year, the movie's cast and crew are well known to keep all information under wraps. Details of the plot are unknown, but a trickle of information has been surfacing now and then to excite "Star Wars" fans.
The latest news comes from Star Wars 7 news website informing its readers that actor Ken Leung has been added as the franchise's newest cast member. He was spotted shooting for a few days on the sets and hence, his role may not be of particular significance. However, the costume he was sporting confirms that he is playing the role of a Rebel/Resistance General in the movie.
Leung was spotted sporting a brown hued uniform with a red colored belt, olive colored khaki pants and a rank insignia that looks like an X. It's clear that he's a top military official of the Rebel Alliance, which is being called the Resistance in "The Force Awakens".
J.J Abrams has worked with actor Ken Leung in other TV shows and movies including "Person Of Interest", "Lost", "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "Red Dragon". Abrams is famous for rotating his preferred roster of actors and so the decision to choose Leung for a role was not surprising.
Cinema Blend has revealed some plot details, though there has been confirmation about the story by the cast or crew of the film. "Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens" is set 30 years after the events of the last movie "The Return Of The Jedi". While fan-favorite characters such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2 and more are back, a slew of fresh new characters are expected to carry on the franchise in the future. This includes John Boyega's Finn, Daisy Ridley's Rey, Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron, and Adam Driver's villainous Sith Kylo Ren.
The film releases on December 18, 2015.
