'Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi' spoilers: Movie to explore Rey and Luke's relationship

(Facebook/Star Wars Movies)Rumors claim that Rey will develop a bond with Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi."

Excitement over the arrival of "Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi" continues to build up as the film is finally slated to arrive later this year. Adding fuel to the excitement are the reports claiming that the film will cast the spotlight on Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) as it explores the relationship between the two.

According to reports, the first footage of "Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi" was shown during a Disney investors' conference. There, it was revealed that Rey will still use Luke's lightsaber, and Luke will see this himself. Reportedly, at one point, Luke even asks Rey who she is, but, instead of answering, she is said to hand the lightsaber to Luke.

Because of the said footage, more and more people are now inclined to believe the persistent rumors saying that Rey is actually the reincarnation of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. To recall, it was in December 2015 when the fan theory about Rey's true identity first surfaced online and blew the minds of "Star Wars" fans.

In the said fan theory posted on Reddit, it is alleged that Rey is Darth Vader himself reincarnated by The Force as evidenced by Rey's vision of The Force, her connection to Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber, and inherent power comparable to that of Anakin Skywalker before he fell to the dark side. As Rey's backstory has never been explored yet, including who her parents are, it is said that she will discover that she is actually the reincarnation of Anakin Skywalke, while she trains in "Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi."

Reports also claim that "Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi" director Rian Johnson has said that Rey will eventually develop a strong bond with Luke. As it is also alleged that the footage shows Rey using The Force, could it be that she is, indeed, the reincarnation of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, which is the reason why she will eventually have a strong bond with Luke?

Find out when "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" arrives this Dec. 15.
