'Star Fox Zero' updates: Nintendo launches official Wii U website; teases at multiplayer functionalities

"Star Fox Zero" had been delayed, with no exact release date pinned to it yet. But Nintendo is hell-bent on making sure that fans of the "Star Fox" game franchise do not forget that the sixth installment is forthcoming and has launched a teaser website to dish out some goodies to those who have been waiting for the game.

Nintendo has launched the official "Star Fox Zero" Wii U website and it's enough to keep fans going. At the moment, the website only has one page on it but that one page is full of goodies that will surely keep fans looking forward to the game's release.

Right below the huge cover art on top of the page, there are several images of what seems like screenshots from the upcoming game. There are also some character art and even an interaction photo of the game and the Wii U Game Pad. To the left of the page are also wallpapers that everyone can download.

But the surprises do not end there. The site also reveals the overall plot: the game is set on the Lylat system, with Fox McCloud trying to save it from destruction, all the while mastering the Arwing jet, Gyrowing flight drone, and the Landmaster tank.

The site details some game features:

  • Take down an intergalactic onslaught of enemy forces.
  • Pilot a variety of vehicles in the air and on the ground.
  • Hone your skills as the legendary pilot, Fox McCloud.
  • See your surroundings on your TV, and get a different view on the GamePad by tilting it to aim.

While those are already nice surprises, what can really excite fans are those tiny details that they may have missed, looking at all the high-res images. On the right side of the page, right below the pre-order buttons, one can find across "Players," it says 1-2 players. This is pretty exciting news, given the game was not supposed to have multiplayer functionalities.

But wait, there's more.

Right at the bottom of the page, in teeny-tiny letters, it says, "Broadband Internet access required for online features." Wow! Does that mean the game will also have online multiplayer options? That is a mystery for now, but the small tidbit in their website is enough to give fans hope.

Stay tuned for more updates on "Star Fox Zero."
