'Star Wars' rumor: will 'Episode VIII' and Rogue One see Hayden Christensen re-appearing as Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader?

Who could ever forget Hayden Christensen's passionate performance as Anakin Skywalker-turned-Darth Vader in the two prequel trilogies, "Attack of the Clones" and "Revenge of the Sith?" Apparently no one, even those behind the new wave of "Star Wars" trilogy and anthology movies. Rumor has it that the 34-year-old is set to appear in at least one of the sequel trilogies and one of the anthology movies.

Making Star Wars dropped two bombs this week regarding a possible resurgence of Darth Vader in the newer "Star Wars" films. According to rumors, the Sith Lord is expected to appear in the still untitled sequel movie, "Star Wars Episode VIII," and the first anthology movie, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

It does make sense for Darth Vader to grace "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," given that the timeline is very apt, with the movie revolving around a group of rebels' attempt at securing the Death Star's blueprints. Speculations sparked when a concept art for Vader was included in the first wave of materials for the spin-off film.

There is no word, however, of further developments about Vader's inclusion in the film. If he will indeed be there, people can expect more news to come out these days, especially as "Rogue One" is already in production. His helmet and chest piece, at the very least, have been rumored to have made it to the props shop of the film.

If that seems exciting, this next piece of rumor is even more so. The same website quotes a source about Christensen's involvement in "Episode VIII."

"A team in the U.K. are soon heading to the U.S. to begin training Hayden Christensen for a 'Star Wars: Episode VIII' appearance of some sort," the rumor says.

Does this mean Darth Vader gets resurrected? Or will he simply appear in a flashback? All one can do for now is guess.

More to be posted as further updates become available.
