'Street Fighter 5' April update news: Everything you need to know about Guile's backstory, moves, and skills

(Capcom)Get to know the newest character made playable on "Street Fighter V."

Since the release of the April Update a few days ago, "Street Fighter V" fans have been busy getting to know Guile, the newest DLC character added.

Guile is considered as one of the most iconic and popular characters in the "Street Fighter" franchise. The United States Air Force major first debuted in "Street Fighter II" released back in 1991. In his backstory, Guile had been focused on avenging the death of his friend Charlie Nash, who was killed by villain M. Bison.

According to Capcom, in "Street Fighter V," Guile will be the perfect character for players who want to take control of the pace of the match. He is known for his two signature moves — the Sonic Boom and the Somersault Kick. He also gains the new ability of Faultless Move that allows him to charge forward in a crouching stance, and while doing so, he can continue to release attacks.

Guile also gains new weapons through the Variable System. Guile's V-Skill is the Sonic Blade where he is able to spin sonic energy to create a blade. It can also juice up Guile's Sonic Booms. Solid Puncher, his V-Trigger, allows players to power up and toss out continuous Sonic Booms at the opponent. The puncher releases at different speeds so opponents can be easily overwhelmed.

Capcom has also given Guile the Sonic Hurricane — his most devastating attack. Guile will be able to hit opponents with a massive and multi-hit Sonic Boom. Damage and range are boosted, while the V-Trigger is active.

Alongside Guile, the April Update also introduced the first stage to be added post-launch. The new Air Force Base, available for 70,000 Fight Money, will be a perfect complement to Guile. The backdrop features a new jet, numerous crates, and many of his old "Street Fighter II" friends.

Guile will only be available for a free trial period. Once the official Zenny Store launches, players will have to use Fight Money or real currency to purchase all of the DLC characters.

Following the release of Guile with the April Update, Capcom is set to introduce another DLC character for its May Update. While Capcom has already confirmed the arrival of Ibuki, Balrog, Juri, and Urien, the game developer has yet to identify which among them will be released this May. Given that Juri was briefly seen during Guile's prologue story, could the South Korean villainess be the next playable character added?

Be sure to check back as more details are expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

"Street Fighter V" is available to play for the PlayStation 4 and the Microsoft Windows PC.
