The announcement was made via the movie's social media accounts including Facebook where it was posted, "Assemble your squad for an insane #4thofJuly. Snap a photo using our exclusive #SuicideSquad filter, available today on Snapchat!"

"Suicide Squad" joins the nation in celebrating the 4th of July via a Snapchat filter.

"Suicide Squad" is a movie based on the comic book that brings together the world's most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains. They are brought together by U.S. Intelligence Officer Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) to go on a mission. The squad is made up of Deadshot (Will Smith), Joker (Jared Leto), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Boomerang (Jai Courtney), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Slipknot (Adam Beach), and Katana (Karen Fukuhara).

Amanda runs a secret government agency called A.R.G.U.S. that holds as a prison cell for the highly dangerous criminals. Aware of the skills the prisoners possess, she makes a deal with some of them to embark on a mission in exchange for shortened sentences. Because of their condition, they are designated as the Task Force X.

As part of the growing DC Cinematic Universe, the squad's story is expected to tie up with other DC movies that have been released including those that will be released. Straight from this year's movie "Batman vs Superman," actor Ben Affleck and Jesse Eisenberg will join the movie to reprise their roles as Batman and Lex Luthor, respectively.

As such, one of the things viewers are excited to know is whether the events in "Suicide Squad" happens before or after "Batman vs Superman."

"Suicide Squad" premieres on Aug. 5.
