They thought it wouldn't happen, but gamers will soon see Cloud coming to "Super Smash Bros."

The revelation that Cloud Strife of "Final Fantasy 7" is set to arrive in "Super Smash Bros" in the next DLC happened before Nintendo Direct's presentation wrapped up.

Nintendo has not set any specific release date for Cloud, but the company did tease fans to watch out for news regarding "Super Smash Bros." to come out in before the year ends. Fans are hoping that Nintendo will be announcing Cloud's arrival then.

Fans can pat themselves on the back for making the "Final Fantasy VII's" protagonist being included in "Super Smash Bros." The game's producer, Masahiro Sakurai, started a poll at the beginning o the year about which characters fans wanted to see in the popular fighting tournament game. Obviously, Cloud was the number one choice. He's the second new character to be included after Ryu from "Street Fighter" fame was introduced in April.

Aside from welcoming Cloud into the game, Nintendo also released a trailer that showed off the character' vaunted moves and limit breaks. It also appears that fans will also be getting a new stage.

The clip started by giving fans a good luck at Cloud, with some taunts against the other players included for good measure. This was followed by successive scenes showing him going up against the other playable characters. There are also shots of different angles of Cloud, his costume, his fighting stance and his sword. Cloud will reportedly have different costumes as a nod to how his character evolved in the different movies and games that he's in.

The new stage that will be introduced is clearly based on "Final Fantasy VII's" Midgar. It will reportedly include cameos from the "FFVII's" summons. What's more, costumes modelled after the "Final Fantasy's" Chocobo will also be made available for Mii fighters.

While no one knows when Cloud Strife will appear in "Super Smash Bros," what is known is that the character will be available in the game's Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U versions.
