"Supernatural" fans already know by now that the series has been renewed for a 12th season. However, there might be a bit of a change in the way things work as long-time showrunner Jeremy Carver will be leaving the show.

Carver's schedule is about to get busier with The CW officially green-lighting another series, "Frequency," which he will be devoting his time to. Carver served as a writer from season 3 to 5 of "Supernatural" and became showrunner of the said series starting season 8.

However, fans need not worry as two "Supernatural" veterans are being tapped to replace Carver. The CW has chosen Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb to become co-showrunners—both of whom are from the "Supernatural" family. Singer has been with the show since the beginning, having directed and written for the series on several occasions. He also serves as an executive producer. Dabb, on the other hand, joined the series in season 4 and has experience in writing for the show. He is also a story board editor and an executive producer.

So what will season 12 bring to the table?

With only a couple of episodes left in season 11, fans are wondering what will happen in the next one. There are some who hope that God will make another appearance in the upcoming season. It was recently revealed that Chuck (Rob Benedict) is actually God, which only confirmed fans' suspicions.

It is also known that Elizabeth Blackmore will appear in season 12 as her character, Lady Toni Bevell. Other than that, several other guest stars are also expected as "Supernatural" has had plenty of them previously.

It is likely that more details about the show's 12th season will be revealed in The CW Upfronts, which will happen on Thursday, May 19.

"Supernatural" season 12 has yet to receive an official release date, so fans will have to wait for an announcement from its network. In the meantime, they can catch the remaining episodes of the show's season 11 on May 18 and 25 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
