Things are not going to get easier for Bay Kennish (Vanessa Marano) and Daphne Vasquez (Katie Leclerc), as the latest season of "Switched at Birth" promises more tears and heartbreaks for the show's main characters and their families.

Teen drama "Switched at Birth" revolves around two teenagers, who find out that they have been switched at birth. Their different backgrounds allowed for the show's creators to explore as much social issues possible. And it has been previously reported that the latest season of the show will dive into a surprise pregnancy -- which had fans speculating on who will be carrying a child in season five.

While nothing has been confirmed, most are betting it is going to be Bay with either her ex-boyfriend (Sean Berdy) or Tank Conroy (Max Adler) as the father. Speculations grew when Marano, who plays the character, hinted at the possibility.

Also on the grapevine is how the Kennish family will face financial troubles in the upcoming season. Actress Lea Thompson, who plays Kathryn Kennish, opened up about how the new challenge to the family would not be as easy as the previous ones have been, hinting that "mama bear" and "papa bear" just would not be able to fix everything this time. However, she reassured that the challenge will not stop her character from being positive.

She also shared a few details about what is in store for Bay and told E! Online, "With Bay dealing with the fallout from her breakup, Kathryn always tries to keep a stiff upper lip and keep everyone moving forward with a lighter touch. She's going to move forward with her musical, but she's also going to get hit with a lot of new drama."

Fans of the show have certainly a lot to watch out for. Season five of "Switched at Birth" will surely be more interesting as it will delve deeper into issues that modern teenagers and families are currently facing.

"Switched at Birth" comes back for season five on the ABC Family channel on August 24.
