'Ted 2' box office earnings can't overthrow 'Jurassic World'

Another weekend has wrapped up and box office reports are in. Moviegoers are looking at how comedy "Ted 2" and animated film "Inside Out" fared but it seems the dinosaurs still rule the ticket sales as "Jurassic World" still sits on the number one spot.

Seth MacFarlane and Mark Wahlberg's "Ted 2" rolled out in the cinemas last week and it quite struggled to topple the two biggest movies in the charts now: Universal Pictures' "Jurassic World" and Walt Disney's "Inside Out." On its opening night, it grossed a total of $2.6 million and fared only $32.9 million over the weekend, almost $20 million shy of nabbing even at least the second spot.

The Pixar animation "Inside Out" is still performing well on its second week, coming at a close second with a total of $52.13 million ticket sales over the weekend. And though this number is an obvious drop from its previous weekend, the movie is still outpacing every Pixar film -- except for "Toy Story 3" -- during its ten-day run.

The Chris Pratt movie "Jurassic World" still has a tight hold on the top spot; remaining at number one for the third week in a row and finishing the weekend with a $54.22 million gross.

Warner Bros./Time Warner Inc.'s "Max," which also rolled out over the weekend, made it to the fourth spot, having earned a 2.8x weekend multiplier from its $4.35 million opening night to a $12.21 million weekend gross. Completing the top five weekend box office is 20th Century Fox's "Spy," finishing with a $7.8 million gross.

In the bottom half of the weekend box office top ten are (in descending order): "San Andreas" (5.28 million), "Dope" (2.86 million), "Insidious Chapter 3" (2 million), "Mad Max: Fury Road" (1.74 million), and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (1.64 million).

Will "Juarssic World" rule the box office for another week? Or will "Ted 2" make a sudden surge in sales? Maybe "Inside Out" will eventually take the spot. Watch out next week for another weekend box office report.
