'The Affair' season 3 spoilers: New suspect emerges for Scotty's murder

(Facebook/TheAffairShowtime)Someone new has emerged as Scotty's murderer in "The Affair" season 3.

A new name has been added to the list of suspects on Scotty's (Colin Donnell) murder. This time, new clues point to someone who has harbored deep hatred over the dead man. Will Whitney (Julia Goldani Telles) emerge as the killer in "The Affair" season 3?

While it has been made clear that three people had a hand in the accident, Bustle has a noteworthy theory on what truly happened the night Scotty died. Based on the previous recaps, Alison (Ruth Wilson) was walking in a dimly road when a drunk Scotty accosted her. He wanted her to tell Cole (Joshua Jackson) that he should be given a chance to become their business partner. When Alison said no, Scotty tried to rape her. In her defense, she pushed him toward the road, where Noah's (Dominic West) car hit him.

Noah and Helen (Maura Tierney) were driving home from Cole's wedding when they felt their vehicle hitting something. When Noah got out of the car to investigate, he saw that it was Scotty. He also saw Alison hiding in the bushes, but he told her to keep the truth to herself. Noah admitted in court that he was the one driving when the accident took place. In truth, it was Helen. They switched places prior to the crash, as Noah was not feeling well.

Bustle reports that Whitney, the bartender obsessed with Scotty, should not be erased from the list even after Noah's admission. Whitney could just be waiting for the perfect chance to get her revenge on the man who left her after getting her pregnant. The experience may have unhinged her a bit and she dealt with her pain by getting even with him.

Meanwhile, series showrunner Sarah Treem recently took to Twitter to post a photo of a folder containing room notes for season 3. It looks like things are going smoothly in their preparation for the premiere sometime this fall. Treem captioned the image that she could not believe that the series is already in its third installment.

"The Affair" season 3 is expected to premiere this fall on Showtime.
