'The Affair' season 3 spoilers: Cole will find out Alison's big secret

The paternity of Alison's (Ruth Wilson) baby is getting much clearer in the third season of "The Affair." Fans who put their bets on Cole (Joshua Jackson) may be right, as new spoilers hint that the ex-couple's tryst resulted to her pregnancy.

Executive producer Anya Epstein recently told Hollywood Life that Cole's new wife, Luisa (Catalina Sandino Moreno), would soon learn that his and Alison's relationship has not really ended. The new bride will discover that her husband has a love child with his ex-spouse and her plight might be told using her own point of view in the series. Last installment, the plotlines were heard from Alison, Cole, Noah (Dominic West) and Helen's (Maura Tierney) POV. Epstein said there would be a fifth one and it could be Luisa's.

Of course, Cole's discovery that he is the father of Joannie will be another interesting storyline. When he and Alison were still together and she lost their baby, he was devastated. He wanted to have a child so badly. It will be a dream come true for Cole to learn he is a dad. This may even cause problems for him and Luisa since he will want to be included in the kid's life. This means being in close contact with Alison, which Luisa will surely not like.

Meanwhile, Jackson said that as far as he knew, Luisa still does not know that Cole and Alison slept together. After all, it would be difficult to bring the subject up since it happened way before he and Luisa met. Cole and Alison spent the night together when she returned in town after arguing with Noah. She went to Cole for some comfort. That time, he was still in love with her and could not resist the temptation.

"This is a relationship question. That was very early; they weren't really in a relationship yet. Is that the type of thing you bring up because it's an explosive situation? Or do you just let sleeping dogs lie? Clearly, he should have just come clean, but yeah that's going to end badly for everybody," the actor shared.

"The Affair" season 3 was expected to air early fall, but was postponed due to showrunner Sarah Treem's pregnancy leave.
