It was earlier speculated that her husband Tom could have helped her fake her death, but the new developments suggest otherwise. Tom has agreed to join Susan Hargrave and leaving Red's team suggests he has come to terms with his wife's death. Tom and Susan will be featured in a spin-off series and episode 22 has served as its backdoor pilot.

There are reports that actress Megan Boone, who plays Liz, has been spotted on the set of the finale. This gave fans hope that the cliffhanger will feature her resurrection. However, there are some guesses that details of her death are part of the scenes being shot.
