After all the drama that went down in the finale of "The Blacklist" season three, there's one big question that will hopefully be answered soon: Is Alexander Kirk truly Liz's biological father?

As fans know, Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen) was introduced in the previous installment as Liz's (Megan Boone) abductor, but the big bomb was when Kirk revealed that he isn't just some kidnapper - he is Liz's father.

Due to Kirk's move of kidnapping Liz, many fans doubt the truth about his identity. But for showrunner Jon Bokenkamp, Kirk should be taken seriously this time.

"We should take him at his word," the EP explained while speaking with Entertainment Weekly.

The entire truth has yet to be revealed but based on Bokenkamp's statements, it's easy to conclude that there is a shade of truth behind Kirk's claims.

On the other hand, there's also the ever mysterious missing link between Liz and Red (James Spader) that fans have long been wanting to find the answer to. Who exactly is Red in Liz's life and why does he seem to have a connection with Liz's mother, played by Lotte Verbeek?

Explaining to the same outlet, Boone said of her character, "Through the investigation of Alexander Kirk, she finds a lot of her mother's memorabilia and private journals. A lot is revealed to her about her mother, who she's known nothing about her whole life, and through her mother, she learns actually a lot more about Reddington."

Based on Boone's statements, it can be safe to say that fans are now much closer to discovering the true connection between the former partners. Just who is Red and why does he always intervene in Liz's life?

While viewers may finally discover who Red is in Liz's life, Boone admitted that she doesn't know the entire truth about her character's connections with Red. For the actress, it's better to retain the air of mystery surrounding the two main characters who will most likely clash again in "The Blacklist" season four.

"The Blacklist" season four premieres Thursday, Sept. 22, 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
