'The Fall' season 3 air date, spoilers: Spector dies; Gibson to face new enemy?

(Facebook/tvthefall)Fans await updates on "The Fall" season 3.

Paul Spector (Jamie Dornan), the elusive killer in "The Fall," may finally be defeated in the upcoming season of the BBC series.

As per Game N Guide, the odds are high that Dornan's character will be killed off in the new installment. Although not much has been teased about the show, rumors claim that one of the main characters is set to die and it is going to be Spector. Stella Gibson (Gillian Anderson) may finally succeed in her mission to rid the world of the vicious criminal. Fans are worried that Spector's death will signal the end of the series. There are some who think, though, that the show can still continue without the antagonist.

Spector's continued evasion of capture is allegedly starting to frustrate the viewers. If the said storyline will still continue in the new season, the series may reportedly suffer from a decrease in viewership. In the event that Spector will meet his end in season 3, the showrunners will have a tough time creating a new villain that will trump Spector's legacy. Dornan has received praise over his brilliant portrayal of the violent criminal.

Meanwhile, series creator Allan Cubitt has expressed in a previous interview with Deadline that he is looking forward to working with both Dornan and Anderson for a long time. According to him, the show has made its mark on the viewers because of the pair's excellent acting. He said he has enjoyed working with them for the past five years. Cubitt also shared that they have already started filming the upcoming installment and that fans could look forward to Gibson and Spector's "obsessive dance of death."

"... Gillian and Jamie have lived and breathed those characters during that time and I've been incredibly well-served as both writer and director by their stellar performances. Obviously I don't want to give anything away about how the third series will end but I can say that I am looking forward to working with both Gillian and Jamie again in the near future!" Cubitt teased.
